Some more updates on AaruII 2-5 from the weekend!

Started out by routing out a board for the inside of the dome then went onto marking the edge of the raw dome for trimming. After getting the edge of the dome nice and clean, I tried it on the board on top of the neck bin and it sat way too high, so I got the router back out and trimmed the board down a bit at a time until I was happy with the height. I then went on to leveling the board inside the dome to then fixing it in with fibreglass, before proceeding with replacing the wooden spacers for the wheels in the top of the neck bin as the old ones had started to fall apart with age.

Eye-eye! Had a very busy day in the workshop today making components for Red's new placeholder Eyestalk!

As stated before, I am not aiming for 100% carbon-copy accuracy to fully replace the missing dome and Eyestalk. This build is being made by hand, not using 3D printed parts, to resemble the original and act as a placeholder for AaruII 2-5 until the original parts are found, whenever that may be in the future. 😁

It's been a while since they've been in stock on the website, but that's because I think I rushed the kit a bit. I've wanted to improve on the design further to get all of the tweaks out and make my own mark on them. What do you guys think of the prototypes? Let me know in the comments! Bear in mind the bolts on show aren't final as I'm waiting on some button head bolts to replace the socket head ones.

"Red" has a head! Big thanks to James Burgess for making us the new head for this amazing piece of history.

Back in July, I went and picked James up from his home in Northampton to bring him to Chesterfield and make a new dome section for AaruII 2-5. In return for which I helped him make a mould of the fender for his own personal use and drive him here and back. Thank you so much buddy for your help and a big thanks to all the other Dalek builders who have come forward with offers to help out on this beautiful project. 😁

We would like to welcome to Tom's Refurbishments Dalek AaruII 2-5, also known as the Sugarpuffs Dalek, but we call him "Red".

When we acquired him, his head was missing so we will be replicating a new one based on photos of the original and using as many original Shawcraft techniques as possible. Happy 10 years married to my amazing wife Lauren Connor who I will forever love and cherish for the rest of my life.

We've been through a lot over the years and always come out stronger than ever together and I can't believe how lucky I am to have you in my life. The family we have made with our daughter is everything to me, and to share this anniversary week with you both in Scotland with our friend Amy Glossop's little lad Killian has been amazing.
