The regatta season arrives in force this fortnight, with the Marlow reach, the Sunbury reach, the Caversham reach and the Iffley reach all hosting events on the same weekend. Boaters transiting the river between Friday 5 and Sunday 14 June should plan their passage carefully.

▸ Marlow Town Regatta & Festival — Saturday 13 June, Higginson Park to Bisham Abbey, Marlow
Saturday is a ticketed rowing regatta with junior and adaptive racing, live music and riverside enclosures (smart-casual dress, ticket and wristband required). Sunday 14 June is a FREE family festival day centred on dragon boat racing, open 9am–4.30pm. www.marlowtownregatta.org

▸ Henley Royal Regatta practice & Henley Women’s Regatta (from Monday 15 June) — Hambleden reach, Henley regatta course
From 6am on Monday 15 June: no boats other than rowing racing boats may navigate within the regatta course or crew warm-up area. Navigation channel on the Buckinghamshire (Fawley Court) bank. No mooring permitted in The Narrows or to the regatta course booms. Boats may cross the course between races provided they do not impede racing craft.
