The regatta season arrives in force this fortnight, with the Marlow reach, the Sunbury reach, the Caversham reach and the Iffley reach all hosting events on the same weekend. Boaters transiting the river between Friday 5 and Sunday 14 June should plan their passage carefully.

▸ Henley Royal Regatta practice & Henley Women’s Regatta (from Monday 15 June) — Hambleden reach, Henley regatta course
From 6am on Monday 15 June: no boats other than rowing racing boats may navigate within the regatta course or crew warm-up area. Navigation channel on the Buckinghamshire (Fawley Court) bank. No mooring permitted in The Narrows or to the regatta course booms. Boats may cross the course between races provided they do not impede racing craft. We currently have this boat for sale

Still in good condition but needs tidying, engines have not been started recently but should run ok coupled to two enfield legs which will need servicing. New cooker fitted 2024. At this price it is certainly worth a look.

We have been dreading writing this post…

After attending to several dead swans in Windsor, we now believe that bird flu has arrived. Today, we’ve seen multiple swans showing symptoms, and sadly, this is devastating news for all of us who care deeply about these beautiful birds.

What symptoms are we seeing?
❗️Lethargy and weakness
❗️Loss of coordination/odd movement of the head/neck
❗️Bleeding from the eyes
❗️Spinning in circles

We have also picked up 24 dead swans in Newbury, and sick swans have been reported at Dinton Pastures and Maidenhead. DEFRA are overwhelmed with cases, and while we await formal confirmation, we suspect this is bird flu.

Proactivity is key right now.

Here’s what you can do to help:

✅ Continue feeding swans, but spread the food out to prevent them congregating.
✅ Wash your footwear after visiting waterways to help prevent spreading the virus.
✅ Keep dogs under close control or on a lead.
✅ If you see a sick or dead swan, please call us immediately on 07968868172

This is heartbreaking for all of us, but together we can reduce the impact. Please share this post widely to help protect our swans.
