Some places live in your imagination for years, and Singapore was one of those for us. After first visiting 25 years ago, finally coming back and staying at Raffles felt incredibly special.

What did we love?
✨ The sense of arrival
Walking through those famous doors, with the white colonnades and palm-framed courtyard, you instantly feel you are somewhere iconic. There is a real “old-world glamour meets modern city” atmosphere that you do not quite get anywhere else.
✨ The suites
Our room was huge, beautifully appointed and so comfortable. High ceilings, elegant furnishings, a gorgeous bathroom and all the modern touches you would hope for. It felt like a calm, private haven in the middle of the city.
✨ The pool oasis
In the Singapore heat, the pool quickly became a favourite spot. Surrounded by greenery, with poolside service on hand, it was the perfect place to unwind between exploring.
✨ Little moments of service
When the service shone, it really shone: thoughtful touches, warm smiles and team members who went out of their way to help made us feel very looked after at key moments during our stay.

For us, finally staying at Raffles and rediscovering Singapore felt like closing the loop on a long-held travel dream. It is a brilliant stopover or a stand-alone city break, and with the right hotel choice it can feel wonderfully indulgent.

This is the beautiful Sanchaya Hotel in Bintan, Indonesia 🇮🇩

I recently spent a week at this stunning hotel and it truly was somewhere special. The colonial-style architecture, beautiful decor and peaceful surroundings make it the perfect place to completely switch off and relax.

What really makes The Sanchaya stand out though is the staff. Every single person genuinely smiles and goes above and beyond to make sure you have the best possible experience.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic honeymoon escape or simply somewhere to get away from it all, I would highly recommend it.

Spa treatments, yoga, padel, bike rides around the lagoon and incredible dining are just some of the experiences on offer.

Just back from the most incredible trip to Singapore and Bintan, Indonesia.

We started with two nights in Sentosa, Singapore at the beautiful The Barracks Hotel Sentosa, the perfect place to relax after our long flight.

From there, we took the ferry to Bintan, which only took around an hour.

For the next week, we stayed at the stunning The Sanchaya and honestly… it’s the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. From the breathtaking colonial-style design to the impeccable service, we were genuinely sad to leave.

We then returned to Singapore for three nights at the iconic Raffles Singapore. Staying at Raffles had been on our bucket list for the last 25 years, ever since our first visit to Singapore together, so it felt really special to finally experience it.

And of course, we couldn’t stay at Raffles without enjoying a Singapore Sling at the iconic Long Bar 🍸
