MILESTONES MUSEUM & THE WATERCRESS LINE

Milestones Museum is located in Basingstoke. All indoors, it is made up of a network of streets that have been recreated as those found in Victorian to 1930s Hampshire. Walk cobbled streets, viewing the shop fronts of bygone craftsmen, visit a Victorian pub and see artefacts from local industry and commerce. A fully licensed café and Edwardian pub are available for lunches. Our day is completed with a return journey on the Mid Hants Railway – better known as The Watercress Line (it used to carry locally grown watercress to markets in London). Watch pastoral Hampshire countryside as you travel on this preserved steam railway.

NATIONAL & TATE BRITAIN GALLERIES

A morning visit to the National Gallery, which houses a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900. The afternoon is spent at Tate Britain, the original and oldest of the Tate network, having opened in 1897. It houses a substantial collection of the art of the UK since Tudor times and in particular large holdings of the works of J.M.W. Turner who bequeathed his own collection to the nation.

BATTLE & BATTLE ABBEY

Battle is a thriving market town featuring Georgian and medieval cottages amongst a host of interesting shops, restaurants, historic pubs and tea rooms. Your Holiday Itinerary
Day 1 After your local pick-up we travel towards Torquay stopping on route for refreshments. We arrive at the delightful hotel with time to find our room and settle in before our evening meal.
Day 2 Exeter. Spend your day in Exeter exploring centuries of history and independent shops. Start at the iconic Exeter Cathedral, then grab lunch in Cathedral Close. Spend the afternoon browsing Gandy Street and the Quayside.
Day 3 Free morning followed by Powderham Castle Private Guided Tour. Sitting on the banks of the River Eve, in picturesque Grade II listed deer parkland, unravel a fascinating 600-year family story at majestic, fortified manor, Powderham Castle on a private guided tour.
