📢 There's still time to have your say on Rochester High Street traffic improvements
Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent consultation — your feedback has helped shape the next steps.
👍 Following strong public support, the Rochester High Street traffic improvement proposals will now progress to the statutory consultation stage.
What’s proposed:
🚫 Introducing a ‘No vehicle’ restriction on Sundays and bank holidays (10am–4pm)
📷 Improving access management during restricted hours with ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras at Blue Boar Lane, Crow Lane and Boley Hill
↩️ Strengthening enforcement of existing banned turns at Boley Hill using ANPR technology
These improvements will help create a safer, more attractive and better-managed high street — giving people more space to:
🚶 Walk
🛍️ Shop
🏛️ Enjoy Rochester’s historic centre
A more welcoming environment will also benefit local retailers and businesses, encouraging increased footfall and enhancing the overall visitor experience.
