What an incredible summer it’s been at Invicta Aero Club.

Firstly, a huge congratulations to Finley, who passed his PPL Skills Test with us today. He’s shown real determination and commitment throughout his training, and it’s fantastic to see all that hard work pay off.

Finley’s success rounds off a brilliant few months of student achievements, with several first solos, solo navigation flights and qualifying cross-countries completed across the club.

And it hasn’t just been the students keeping busy.
Our qualified pilots and members have been making the most of the summer too, heading off to destinations far and wide. From Le Touquet to Alderney, Austria and even the occasional water slide, the Invicta fleet certainly hasn’t been sitting still.

And, of course, no Invicta summer would be complete without the Pitts doing what the Pitts does best.

As the kids all return to school we reflect on the adventures our members have been on during the summer holidays. Just to name a few destinations……

- Channel Islands
- Isle of Wight (lots)
- isle of Scilly
- Le Touquet (lots for lunch)
- Berlin
- Krakow
- Budapest
- Austrian Alps
- South/ West German

Whilst all that has been going on, our students at home have been working hard towards their licences. We’ve seen first solos, new licence holders and pilots adding aerobatic and instrument ratings.

Before the years out there’s a few more big trips planned, and of course lots more training. Our current course list :-

NPPL(M)
NPPL (A)
PPL (A)
Aerobatic
Tailwheel
Complex type
EFIS (G3X and GTN)
IMC
IR & CBIR
MEP
Our unique Formation courses.

Does your aero Club do the standard 100 dollar burger runs (which of course is fine and we all do regularly) ? At Invicta Aero Club our members stretch the normal cross country trip, two weeks touring Europe. This is the second trip in 2 months.

The Cherokee six has seen Berlin, Krakow, Budapest and now in the Alps for a few nights all flown over in just over a week.

That’s touring in a little aeroplane !

Contact us if this is something you might be interested in with your PPL….. seriously this is achievable by you, a normal PPL 😎

What an incredible day it was welcoming so many members of our local community to the Rochester Airport Airshow!

After many years away, seeing the event return was a proud moment. It followed months of planning and close collaboration between the Flight Display Director and the CAA to ensure a safe, exciting and memorable air display for everyone.

The skies came alive as our Invicta Horses showcased the incredible capabilities of the grassroots Cessna 152 with a dynamic and thrilling close-formation display. Spectators were also treated to a truly special sight as the Pitts Special joined the iconic Spirit of Kent Spitfire for unique formation passes, before delivering an energetic and breathtaking aerobatic performance.

Here at Invicta Aero Club, we were delighted to introduce 55 people to the joy of flight, alongside helicopter rides, a funfair, great food and plenty of family entertainment throughout the day.

As our first airshow in many years, we’ve learned valuable lessons that will help make the next event even better. The enthusiasm and support from our community has been truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to build on this success and welcome you back for an even bigger and better Rochester Airport Airshow in 2027.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, participated and supported the event. Together, we’ve taken the first step in bringing this fantastic tradition back to Rochester and the future is looking brighter than ever.

What a great 2 weeks it’s been - making the most of summer!

We’ve had an NPPL skills test pass from one of our members who started training around the same time as the LAPL/NPPL changes - a huge congratulations to you Max.

Sebastian joined us to complete an intensive PPL on his journey from commercial rotary to fixed wing. After just over a month - congratulations are in store as Seb passed his PPL skills test!

In the meantime one of our members has been making the most of our full glass cockpit Cherokee six, flying across Europe.

We also welcomed Ollie from a commercial integrated school, where the opportunity to fly had become infrequent due to lack of availability. Within a week we can now congratulate Ollie on his first solo, and with being well on his way to completing the first step of his PPL before moving on to hour building.

Further down the line we’ve had an IMC skills test pass from one of our more commercially focussed students who I have no doubt will soon be looking towards his CBIR.

Finally, as the sun begins to fall, and the business end of the day is over, up goes the three Invicta horses and the Pitts Special - to continue their training for the ever nearing Rochester family fun day and air display this weekend!

What a fantastic time of year for general aviation!
