Chalfont St Peter Preschool We are a small Preschool who deliver the EYFS to children 2 & above. Over 5 days our setting is open from 8.00 am until 5.30 pm for 38 weeks.

We are registered with Ofsted and accept all levels of funding.

🐸 We have been learning all about the frog life cycle! This week we visited our local pond and were so excited to spot real tadpoles in the water.

Back at preschool, the children have been exploring the frog life cycle in lots of different ways through tuff trays, playdough, crafts, small world play and hands-on activities. We are loving watching their curiosity grow as they learn through play! 💚

Fee-fi-fo-fum… here’s a little look back at our Jack and the Beanstalk activities from the past few weeks 🌱✨

From squishy playdough creations and maths challenges to imaginative tuff trays and HUGE beanstalk towers, the children completely brought the story to life.

What started as simple tower building quickly turned into giant beanstalks reaching up to the clouds ☁️💚

One of our favourite moments was seeing a child recreate their own beanstalk at home to share with us — we love seeing their ideas and learning continue beyond the setting!

🎉 Happy Birthday, David Attenborough! 🎉

Thank you for inspiring us to care for animals and protect their habitats. Today, the children celebrated by becoming little vets, caring for our toy animals, and getting creative by building animal habitats using recycled materials and rubbish. 🐾♻️

We loved seeing their imagination, teamwork, and kindness shine through as they learned how small actions can help make a big difference for wildlife. 🌍💚

This week, our story focus was The Gingerbread Man! ✨
The children had a wonderful time learning the story, joining in with the repeated refrains, and bringing the tale to life through a range of fun activities. From storytelling to hands-on learning, their enthusiasm was fantastic to see!
To make the experience even more special, the children baked their very own gingerbread men 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 and they had one for snack.
A week full of creativity, learning, and tasty treats! 💛

This week our children enjoyed a simple but powerful practical life activity: washing dolls and baby clothes, then using a salad spinner to remove the water 🧺👶✨
This type of play supports so many areas of development:
• Fine motor skills – squeezing, scrubbing, rinsing, and spinning strengthen little hands and fingers.
• Coordination and control – children learn how to manage water, soap, and clothing carefully.
• Independence – completing a full task from washing to drying builds confidence and responsibility.
• Language development – children naturally talk about wet/dry, clean/dirty, spin, squeeze, and fold.
• Role play and empathy – caring for dolls encourages nurturing behaviour and understanding daily routines.
• Problem solving – children observe what happens when clothes hold water and discover how spinning helps remove it.

Using a salad spinner adds excitement because it introduces cause and effect in a hands-on way: the faster they spin, the more water comes out. It also makes the task achievable for young children and gives immediate visible results.
Practical activities like this help children connect play with real-life skills, making learning meaningful and enjoyable every day 🌿

Throughout the week, the children have been busy baking cakes and decorating cupcakes in preparation for our Afternoon Tea. They also created beautiful hand-painted cards and a lovely posy of daffodils for their mummy.
