A week to go!

The Dalesman runs from York to Carlisle, celebrating 150 years of the Settle to Carlisle line — by steam.

Calling at York, Castleford, Woodlesford (Leeds), Keighley and Skipton, then heading to Hellifield, where our steam loco will be added before travelling up the line: past Settle, over Ribblehead, through Dent and into Carlisle. Enjoy two hours in the border city before the steam-hauled return through the Dales.

If you're booked, see you on the platform!

There are some tickets available on the day, every day. If you are in the area, the guard on the platform with the train, does have some tickets available to purchase - these are cash only tickets. Please arrive around 1 hour before the departure time for either the morning train - departure 10.15 or afternoon train - departure 12.50.

Booking is now open for the 2026 season. Steam departs Fort William at 10:15 every morning, seven days a week, crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct on its way to Mallaig and the silver sands of Morar.

One train a day, to 23 October.
