Following consultations with colleagues and Cornwall Council, we can confirm the closure of all First Bus services from 14 February 2026.

As we explained in November, our Cornwall business has faced ongoing financial challenges for some time, intensified by rising costs, lower passenger numbers and increased competition. Sadly, this means our operation was no longer financially viable.

This has been an extremely difficult decision, and we want to sincerely thank everyone who has travelled with us over the years.

An update on our Cornwall operations

We’ve today shared our proposal to withdraw all First Bus services in Cornwall from 14 February 2026.

Our Cornwall business has faced ongoing financial challenges for some time, intensified by rising costs, lower passenger numbers and increased competition. Sadly, this means our operation is no longer financially viable.

This has been an extremely difficult decision, made only after every other option for the business was explored. We know this news will be disappointing for our customers and colleagues, and we want to sincerely thank everyone who has travelled with us over the years.
