Meet Ben Upton, our new Sales & Operations Agent, who joins the Cargonet team today!

Ben joins our Manchester branch with almost a decade of freight forwarding experience, bringing particular expertise in import operations. He's worked across a number of forwarding businesses over the years, picking up skills in both sales and operations along the way.

Outside of work, Ben trains Brazilian Jiu Jitsu four times a week. So let's just say we'll all be on our best behaviour in the office. 👀

DG shipment rejection rate climbs every summer. Here's why:

🧊 Dry ice gets snagged on temperature-sensitive pharma loads, but it's declarable in its own right - quantity limits, packaging, marking, all apply.

🔋Lithium battery volumes rise as Q4 ecommerce stock builds. New rules tightened further this year, and the DGD has to be right.

Rates plateauing sounds like good news. In some ways it is.

After months of increases driven by Middle East disruption and fuel costs, airfreight rate growth slowed through May. Transpacific routes are still ticking upward, but at a much slower pace. Asia-Europe looks broadly stable for now.

That stability is real, but it's fragile. The underlying pressures - rerouted capacity, ongoing surcharge adjustments, tighter belly space on affected corridors - haven't gone away. They've just steadied.

What tends to happen through July and into August is that summer scheduling adds its own layer of complexity. Capacity shifts as airlines move to leisure-heavy routes. Industrial shutdowns across Europe reduce some export flow but don't free up space on inbound lanes.

It's a decent window to get Q3 shipments locked in. Not because rates are low, but because the market is briefly more predictable than it's been since February.
