Throwback to 2013. Working on a Paul Gartside 14ft clinker dinghy. This project was one of the highlights of my time at the BBA. Since then, I’ve had the chance to work on a few other clinker dinghies. It’s a style of building that I really connect with — there’s a rhythm and flow to the process that feels both timeless and deeply rewarding. I’m always keen to take on more clinker dinghy projects and continue exploring the fine balance of tradition, craftsmanship, and beauty that these boats represent.

A GRP classic boat? Yes, indeed! Restoration of a 1968 Drascombe Lugger—one of the original GRP (fiberglass) Drascombe Luggers. These boats are known as fantastic all-rounder family day boats. This particular one was bought new in 1968 by the current owner’s father. It’s been great to bring this classic back to life!

As well as wooden boatbuilding and woodworking, I also dabble in a bit of composite and CAD/CAM work. Here's some work for Independent Composites. Bespoke carbon fiber legs for an electric concept boat. The process starts with a CAD model, which is then shaped into a mould using a CNC milling machine. Carbon fiber is laid into the mould and infused with epoxy resin, resulting in an incredibly stiff and lightweight part with an amazing organic form.

A bit of CNC work - quick design and build of some benches for the Independent Composites offices.

A bit of a break from boatbuilding to work on a project with Nash Carpentry and Conservation. Major timber frame repairs and some lovely interior work for the oldest pub in Gloucester. We also made some bespoke rustic furniture for the nooks and an outdoor bar from reclaimed beams.
