Jalapeño crewed by Sail Boat Project came back in to Newhaven from Dieppe in the early hours this morning after a 10 hour channel crossing - last leg of our carbon free shipping journey!

The pirates are having a rest today but never stray very far from the sea - brunch at Starfish And Coffee, who coincidentally stock the chutney who we transported to Normandy yesterday as part of our shipping project!

Two of the Pirates on board Jalapeño this morning, securing the load and waiting for the BBC who has picked up on our carbon free, sail shipping story. It started yesterday with picking up great local products from the Sussex Peasant farm in Pyecombe and transporting them by Cargo Ebikes to Newhaven port. It continues today with the next leg of the carbon zero journey, from Newhaven to Dieppe in France. Jalapeño will be back in Newhaven in a few days with delicious French products. More on BBC South East at 6:30 tomorrow tonight.

Newhaven and Dieppe Zero Carbon Logistics Pilot starts this month.
There has been a ferry route between Newhaven (Sussex) and Dieppe (Normandie) since 1847 moving people, products and dreams.
For over 150 years the route has relied upon fossil fuels and emitted C02.
We want to change that.
In June 2021, we pilot a new “Slow Transport” route between the two ports using zero carbon through wind and tides with the yacht Jalapeño provided by the logistics team at Sail Cargo SE.
