Responsible orangutan tourism in Borneo: see them without harming them.

Orangutans = critically endangered. Habitat loss + illegal pet trade. Tourism can help or harm.

βœ… Visit: Sepilok/Semenggoh centres (Sabah Wildlife Dept managed, funds conservation), Kinabatangan lodges with certified guides (wild settings, minimal disturbance)

❌ Don't visit: "Orangutan encounters" with photo ops/direct interaction (disease transmission, stress), uncertified treks baiting animals with food

Why: Ethical centres fund forest protection, anti-poaching, rescue ops. Your visit = their survival.

I only work with operators following Sabah Wildlife Dept + Sarawak Forestry Corp guidelines. "Hug an orangutan" = exploitation, not conservation.

Does responsible wildlife tourism factor into your travel choices? Let me know – around evenings and all weekend.

Malaysian Borneo: 3 must-dos for wildlife/adventure seekers:

✦ Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Sabah – watch semi-wild orangutans at feeding times (10am/3pm). Rescue facility, not zoo. Nearby Sun Bear Conservation Centre too. Ethical, educational, moving. Combine with Kinabatangan River trips.

✦ Kinabatangan River wildlife cruises, Sabah – early morning/late afternoon boats. Proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, orangutans, crocs, hornbills. Eco-lodges along the river. Best: March-Oct (dry season).

✦ Mulu Caves, Sarawak – UNESCO site. World's largest cave chamber, longest cave passage in SEA, millions of bats at dusk. Guided tours (permit required). Accessible boardwalks for most fitness levels.

Borneo needs time. But genuinely wild wildlife + unique landscapes = worth it.

I build it into Malaysia trips or make it the focus. Solos love lodge communities. Families love structured encounters.

Borneo on your list? Wildlife or caves – what pulls you?

Around evenings and weekends for proper Borneo trip planning.

🎯 SOMERSET BUSINESS EXPO - 2 WEEKS TO GO 🎯

Two weeks until the Somerset Business Expo (Friday 12 June, Junction 24 TA6 6DF) and the stand is coming together brilliantly!

Massive thanks to the fellow exhibitors who've been helping me create something totally different for this year. Genuinely can't wait to see what visitors and other exhibitors think of it.

Don't forget the prize draw! Visit the stand, enter to take home this special Rocky Mountaineer bear, and see what I've been working on.

This is shaping up to be the best expo yet - the buzz around what everyone's planning is fantastic.

Who's coming? Drop a πŸ‘‹ in the comments!

Palawan, Philippines: "best island in the world" (repeatedly) and still undersold.

El Nido + Coron: limestone karsts from turquoise water, hidden lagoons, snorkelling without boats. Scenery that looks oversaturated.

Best: Nov-May (dry season). Vibe: adventure-meets-chill. Island-hop by bangka boats, beachside seafood, bamboo huts to boutique eco-resorts.

El Nido = more developed, easier access. Coron = wreck diving (WWII ships), Kayangan Lake (saltwater lake in cliffs, one of Asia's cleanest).

Puerto Princesa (entry point) has Underground River UNESCO site – subterranean river through limestone caves.

Suits active travellers. Challenging for less mobile guests (uneven paths, boat clambering). But if you can manage – this is Philippines at peak stunning.

Palawan on your radar? El Nido or Coron – where would you start?

Let's talk it through properly. I'm around evenings and weekends.

Just booked a short break for a regular luxury cruise client.

The brief was tight: fixed dates due to cattery commitments, adults-only property essential, maximum 2.5 hour flight, transfer under an hour.

The solution: Girandella Designed for Adults Hotel in Rabac, Croatia. 4* Valamar Collection, accessible via P**a.

Short flight, quick transfer, zero compromises on the luxury or peace they wanted.

Sometimes the tightest briefs lead to the most satisfying matches πŸ’™

🌿 Are you looking for a more sustainable way to explore Indonesia's stunning marine life?

Small-ship expedition cruises offer a unique way to travel, with a lower environmental impact and higher engagement with local communities. Imagine snorkelling over pristine reefs, hiking volcanic islands, and watching Komodo dragons in the wild.

🌊 These cruises keep visitor numbers low, use local guides, and even support marine research. If you care about preserving these incredible places, this might be the perfect way to explore!
