Fancy a last minute bit of haulage from one of our diesels? One of them will be out this Saturday for a round trip alongside the railway’s afternoon tea. Get your tickets online!

In Brechin this weekend coming for the Angus show? Why not pop down on Saturday the 6th of June for a round trip on one of our heritage diesel locomotives. The train will depart Brechin at 1pm and return just after 2pm.

Think of it as a little warm up to our summer running season along side our afternoon tea!

We will be out and about at the Caledonian Railway’s volunteer recruitment day on Saturday the 13th of June.

There will be a diesel hauled service and we will have a stall at Bridge of Dun so you can pop in and have a chat with us about diesel volunteering.

A midweek throwback to the Great Central Railway diesel gala in September 2025. From the cab of D5370 as it passes 27056 returning to Loughborough. We believe this is the first time two class 27’s have passed each other on double track while hauling service trains since 1987!

DIESEL RUNNING WEEKEND 2026

We are pleased to announce our diesel running weekend is the 7th 8th 9th of August 2026. One week later than usual… normal service will be resumed next year.😅

D5370 returns to Bridge of Dun shed for the last time in 2025.

This brings the end of diesel running in 2025. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported the locomotives both at the railway and with D5370 visiting The Great Central railway.

We look forward to seeing everyone in 2026!
