Union Canal Carriers An award winning family run hire boat company based in Braunston Northamptonshire. With 16 boats rang We have 16 hire boats from 2 - 12 berth.

Based in rural Northamptonshire near the junction of the Oxford and Grand Union Canal which gives a choice of 5 different routes for our base. Plus a day boat just to get you into the spirit of boating. Union Canal Carriers started in 1968 and is still owned and run by the family.

Union Canal Carriers had the pleasure of hosting the British Marine Lock Keeper of the Year 2026 which was awarded to Adrian Honeybill
Running for almost 30 years, the award celebrates the outstanding voluntary work carried out by lock keepers and volunteers across the inland waterways.

Heather from Union Canal Carriers nominated Adrian in recognition of his exceptional support last summer. For keeping them up to date with stoppages, water levels and went the extra mile by arranging for CRT volunteers to help move 10 of their boats between Braunston and Hillmorton Locks and back again. This ensured they could continue trading throughout a very challenging period. Adrian was announced as the winner in November at the 2025 Inland Conference.

A truly well‑deserved award. Congratulations, Adrian, and thank you for everything you do for our inland waterways!
