Grower updates! 🌱

They just keep on growing! The UK Hersbrucker, grown by Tom at Church Farm, is speeding its way up the wire 🌿

Last year, rye was planted within the yards after harvest, using up any leftover fertilisers. It has since been cultivated back into the soil, providing a moisture-retaining mulch full of nutrients 💧
Over time, this has been slowly releasing nutrients back into the soil, reducing the need for fertiliser this year!

Let the grower updates continue! 🌱
The past few weeks have brought a burst of growth in the hop yards, helped along by some weekend rain.

UK Hersbrucker is already pushing close to 10 feet in places at Tom’s farm in Herefordshire, with Goldings at Stocks Farm, Worcestershire not far behind.

We can also spot Harlequin® peeking through the cover crops, growing more and more each day!
At their peak, UK hops can grow vertically by nearly 6 inches a day, racing up to the top wire, usually by the longest day on 21st June.

Stay tuned for more hoppy updates! 🍻

There’s something special about this time of year in the hop fields 🌱

This photo captures the newly released Karma® hop variety beginning its climb up the strings at Puterbaugh Farms (WA, USA). It’s the very start of a journey that will shape a different aroma, flavour, and character in new beers.

Karma® is a daughter of Charles Faram's Mystic™ and a disease-resistant UK male. It's already generating excitement among brewers for its unique profile. But before it ever reaches the brewhouse, it all begins right here… with careful training, long days, and a lot of patience.

From field to pint, this is where the story starts

GOLDINGS AFTER THE FIRST TIE
Matt Bailey from Charles Faram Farms member Hawkins Farm sent in this beautiful blue sky photo of their Goldings at Millend (Herefordshire) after the first tie to the strings. They'll hopefully reach the top in the next 6 weeks.
