Supporting safety at Apsley Station
Rail Planning Services continued its support for Taziker at Apsley Station last weekend, supplying Engineering Supervisors and Controllers of Site Safety (COSS) as part of the station’s accessibility upgrade.

Our safety-critical teams helped maintain safe working arrangements throughout the weekend, with our COSS personnel also placing marker boards on the track to provide additional protection while work was underway.

Taziker’s team carried out the installation of protective electrical trunking on the station footbridge, using scaffold towers to access the work areas. This forms part of the wider programme of accessibility improvements planned for Apsley Station.

🎉 Celebrating 7 years with RPS 🎉
Today marks our lovely Pollie Kennedy's seven-year work anniversary with Rail Planning Services.

As one of our longest-standing team members, Pollie has made a valuable contribution to RPS across several roles. From working as a Resource Manager and providing significant support during our RISQS audits, to her current role in accounts, Pollie has been an important part of the business throughout her time with us.

👏 A big thank you to the team at Absolute Training!

We recently booked two members of the RPS team onto courses with Absolute Training, with Paul Tooth completing his AOD(PO) (Points Operator) at their Cardiff centre and Craig De Almeida completing his PTS (Personal Track Safety) recertification at their Radlett centre.

The Radlett training centre is a particularly useful location for rail businesses and personnel working in and around London and the South East, and the team were extremely accommodating in helping us arrange the training we needed.

A big thank you to Rob Harris and the team at Absolute Training for their continued support. We look forward to booking initials, recerts and safety critical assessments with you in the near future!

Supporting Our Client Across Two of London’s Busiest Stations 🚆
Rail Planning Services has recently been supporting our valued client
Spence Ltd across works at both Liverpool Street and Clapham Junction, providing experienced safety-critical personnel to help works progress safely and efficiently.

📍 Liverpool Street Station
Works included the installation and recovery of life-expired or non-compliant PAVA speakers and acoustic sensors – important systems that support clear passenger information and help maintain the station infrastructure at one of the UK’s busiest transport hubs.

📍 Clapham Junction Station
Remedial works were carried out across platforms 5, 10, 11 and 12, focusing on station support beams and structural reinforcement, including securing steel plates and surrounding framework.

While the scope of works differed across the two locations, both demonstrate the importance of continually maintaining and improving our railway infrastructure – from passenger communication systems through to the structures that support our stations.

A Big Thank You to Our Team ☀️
Over the recent weeks, our teams have continued to support rail works across the network through some exceptionally hot and challenging conditions.
Working trackside is demanding at the best of times, but carrying out safety-critical responsibilities through periods of blistering heat brings an additional challenge.

We'd therefore like to take a moment to recognise and thank all of our people who continued to turn up, support our clients and carry out their duties professionally and safely throughout the hot weather.
Whether working days, nights or weekends, their commitment and professionalism help us continue delivering the reliable support our clients depend upon.

Supporting Station Improvements at Harrow & Wealdstone 🚆
Rail Planning Services was proud to support our longstanding client Taziker during the latest phase of improvement works at Harrow & Wealdstone Station.
Part of the wider programme of improvements at this Grade II listed station, the works included restoration to the station platforms, roofing works and refurbishment of the station canopies and dagger boards.

Complex temporary scaffolding was installed to provide safe access to the canopies, while a poly bridge across the track enabled materials to be transferred safely between platforms.

Throughout the works, our experienced safety-critical team provided:
🔹 Engineering Supervisors (ES)
🔹 Controllers of Site Safety (COSS)
Working across both day and night shifts, the RPS team helped maintain safe systems of work throughout the weekend, supporting in the safe and efficient delivery of the works.

We're particularly pleased to have received such positive feedback about our team on site — a great reflection of the professionalism and commitment they bring to every project. 👏

Supporting HS2 Infrastructure Works at South Hampstead
Rail Planning Services is proud to be supporting one of the UK's most significant rail infrastructure programmes at South Hampstead.

Our experienced safety-critical team has been supporting track and asset surveys, together with the maintenance and installation of monitoring equipment to help protect the railway infrastructure ahead of future HS2 tunnelling works.

Working alongside our client, our teams continue to help maintain safe systems of work while supporting critical monitoring activities that ensure the railway can continue to operate safely throughout the project.

Projects of this scale demand careful planning, technical expertise and the highest standards of safety. We're proud to play our part in supporting the successful delivery of this nationally significant programme.

Supporting Canopy Refurbishment at Barnham Station
Rail Planning Services is proud to support our valued client, Walker Construction UK Ltd, during the ongoing canopy refurbishment works at Barnham Station on the West Coastway Line.

Throughout the project, our experienced safety-critical resource team has continually provided:
✅ Protection Controllers (PC)
✅ Controllers of Site Safety (COSS)

As works continue, including temporary scaffolding to provide safe access for the refurbishment of the station canopy, our team has also implemented detonator protection and helped maintain safe systems of work throughout the project, ensuring Walker Construction's refurbishment works could be carried out safely and efficiently.

Projects like these rely on careful planning, close coordination and the highest standards of safety to keep both the workforce and the operational railway protected.
