Rest in eternal peace Kakka Chari, the metal working mentor to my Brother Stu, Father, Husband and Master Craftsman in Goa, India.
I had the privilege of witnessing Kakka & Stu work together in his workshop, which was part of his home. There were 3 generations present either pumping the bellows and hammering metal, with relatively rudimentary tools, offset my huge skill and experience, and ingenuity.
Kakka and Stu had an incredible dynamic, both focused in manifesting Stu’s motorcycle build blueprints into reality by bending, stretching and welding metal to the limits of its tolerances, to create things of true beauty.
The creations were notorious head turners around the main drags of coastal Goa, and some were award winners when back in the UK, featuring in many a magazine centrefold.
Some notable mentions Veitch ‘The Cockroach’ and ‘The Silver Bullet’ as just a tiny part of Kakka’s legacy (pictures in comments below).
Huge condolences to Kakka’s friends and Family, to my Brother Stu and Rag & Bone Customs.
Kakka’s legacy lives on in his creations and his spirit lives on through his teachings as a guide, mentor and dear friend. X
