As fuel costs rise, many people are seeking ways to reduce their everyday expenses. But how much could you actually save by swapping some journeys from car to cycle?

Cycling won’t replace every trip, and for many people it wouldn’t be realistic to try. However, with 70% of journeys in England being under five miles, switching some shorter trips could make a significant difference.

Fuel, parking, servicing, insurance and general wear and tear all add up. We found that replacing short car journeys with cycling could save hundreds of pounds a year, especially for households able to swap a second car or local “run-around” for a bike or e-cycle.

And unlike cars, bikes run on whatever’s in your snack cupboard, which leads to the most important question…

What fuels your rides: sprouts, chocolate biscuits, pasta, jelly babies? đź‘€
