Supa kindly collected from the hive for processing by Keith from Bright Meadows Honey. Today, lads and volunteers worked together to make new gravestones, restore old ones, tidy the site, paint a stage, insulate El Cielo all in preparation for upcoming Halloween spooktacular.

With just under 25 on site yesterday, the lads helped harvest 22.6k of potatoes yesterday, Jan and Simon took to finishing off painting El Cielo then helped preparing the brush for brooms with Angelica, Sam kindly strimmed the entire site and cleaned up the silt from the flags, Pauline weeded the herb bed and then myself, Jan and Becky created a new platform for Halloween. A crazy busy day but thank you to all the amazing volunteers who got so much done!

Our beautiful new pond lit under lanterns, having only been established in the last two months is already home to frogs, a damselfly nymph and small water diving beetles. The lads are busy volunteering to help build new grave stones and a crypt for the upcoming Halloween event, expect brand new features for our Halloween Spooktacular this year in October.

As a side note, we have been recently dealing with 10 - 12 year olds (none featured in any photos) who have been attending without parental consent, when the younger lads have been asked to bring an adult to sign consent, it has been met with refusal to leave the site. We are of course unable to physical remove them from site, nor would/could we, however if this continues we would need to escalate to inform local secondary schools of those specific lads which will lead back to their parents.

Please can we ask parents with teenage lads if they have been attending the Garstang Hub and to show some respect to the volunteers who give up their free time, volunteers are reaching the point of stopping attending the site, which would lead to us closing, we ask for community support to help on this issue. Yet again to reiterate all the lads featured in the photos are amazing volunteers who have worked hard to build this site themselves, from digging the pond to making the beds to host events with us.
