New Dutch Truck Toll – Important Update (from 1 July 2026)
From 1 July 2026, the Netherlands will introduce a distance-based, CO₂-differentiated toll for trucks over 3.5 tonnes, replacing the current Eurovignette system.
The toll applies to motorways, as well as selected provincial (N-roads) and municipal roads, and requires an On-Board Unit (OBU).

Key points:
📅 Start date: 1 July 2026
🚚 Who is affected: N2 & N3 trucks > 3.5 tonnes
📏 How it works: Pay per km driven
📟 OBU required: Authorised OBU (EETS-compatible)
🌱 Rates depend on: CO₂ emission class, vehicle weight & axles
→ Cleaner trucks pay less

Transition:
* Eurovignette abolished
*Truck motor vehicle tax reduced to a minimum
⚠️ Fines: 50% reduced until 1 Jan 2027
👉 Operators must register with a service provider and ensure their OBU is installed and active by 1 July 2026.

Penalties & Enforcement:
*Enforced by ILT and police using ANPR cameras and roadside checks.
🕒 Transition period (1 July–31 Dec 2026): 50% reduced fines

Fines;
❌ No contract / registration:
€400 → €800 from 1 Jan 2027
🔌 OBU switched off or faulty:
€250 → €500 from 1 Jan 2027
📟 Wrong or unregistered OBU:
€250 → €500 from 1 Jan 2027
Important rules:
⏱️ Max 1 fine per truck per 24 hours
💶 If multiple violations occur, highest fine applies
🚓 Truck impoundment possible in serious cases

How to get an OBU:
🌍 EETS providers:
Eurowag (EVA), Axxès, Telepass, Toll4Europe, Tolltickets
National providers: e.g. Toll Collect (Germany), Satellic (Belgium)
📝Process:
Sign a contract, register the vehicle, pay a deposit if required
🛒 Where:
Online via Road User Portals or at authorised service points

You never quite know what’s coming when Steve gives us a call...
One day it’s a train to Norway for Tom Cruise, the next it’s an Airbus plane.
And this time? An 80-year-old German WWII King Tiger tank. 😮

Armoured vehicle enthusiasts heading to Tankfest (June 27–29 at the Bovington Tank Museum) will have the rare chance to see this formidable machine up close—mechanical, massive, and steeped in history.

Port of Dover imposes temporary embargo on abnormal loads.

The embargo will be in effect from 7:00 am on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, until midday on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024. This restriction is due to essential maintenance work on Homeward Way, a key route within the port.
During this period, ferry operators running services from the port of Dover will be unable to accept abnormal load shipments in either direction between Dover and France.
Hauliers planning to transport abnormal loads via Dover during the specified timeframe are advised to adjust their schedules or explore alternative routes.

Like with other European Countries the German Permit application time depends very much on which and how many Ministries, Road Authorities, Motorway & Town Authorities must look at the application and check the roads and surrounding areas and give their approval, it also depends very much on how busy they are. Application for a German Permit is a very clear process. Best thing is to know your rules in Germany and have the correct information and paperwork before you make an application. The longer, wider, the higher and the heavier you are the longer the permit application may take. The North & East German Ministries usually take the longest to apply for as they are quite busy. Have the correct vehicle paperwork, know your dimensions, check the route! 😀

Germany’s heavy road transportation sector is under threat from bureaucracy and a deteriorating roads and bridges infrastructure, which could affect all of Europe. The situation is worsening in
