Update: The 5A/C services are now operating their usual timetable. From 6pm onwards they will omit Livesey Branch Road in both directions passing the Empire Theatre on Bolton Road instead.

Due to multiple bricks being deliberately thrown at and smashing several bus windows this evening near St Bede’s School, the 5A and 5C services are suspended with immediate effect and will remain cancelled until further notice.

We will never put the safety of our drivers or passengers at risk to accommodate mindless, cowardly violence.

Throwing bricks at moving vehicles is not “having a laugh”—it is reckless endangerment that will one day kill or maim someone.

The individuals responsible are not clever or funny; they are dangerous idiots whose actions will eventually leave them facing serious criminal charges.

We will not resume these routes until we can guarantee a safe environment for everyone on board.

Safety is non-negotiable. Sorry for any inconvenience

We’re excited to announce, in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council, the return of the Blackburn Outer Circle bus routes from May 4th! 🚌

It’ll link Whitebirk, Royal Blackburn Hospital, Witton Park, and Pleckgate—running every 40 mins peak, 75 mins off-peak weekdays, and hourly weekends. Routes 5A/5C and 55A/55C keep you moving, with upgraded stops for better service.

337/347 - CHORLEY – CROSTON – ORMSKIRK/SOUTHPORT

We will be bringing brand new vehicles to these routes for which plans are well under way and we can’t wait to meet our new customers.
