Today we stepped into the electric atmosphere of Grand National Ladies Day at Aintree Racecourse — the fun-filled second day of one of the biggest social events of the season 🏇

With over 45,000 people dressed to impress, the energy was incredible from start to finish. Think style, excitement, and world-class racing all rolled into one unforgettable day. From the fashion to the racing, the weather, atmosphere to the hospitality — today truly delivered on every level.

There’s something about seeing Stonehenge in person that really stays with you.

Standing among those ancient stones today, it’s hard not to wonder how and why they were placed there over 4,000 years ago. The scale, the history, the mystery… it all hits differently when you’re actually there, taking it in with your own eyes.

We took our time walking the site, soaking up the atmosphere and imagining the generations who stood in the very same spot long before us. It’s one of those places that makes you pause, reflect, and appreciate just how deep history really runs.

Our race day hospitality was in the superb Chez Roux Restaurant, overseen by world-renowned chef Michel Roux Jr. Located on the top floor of the course-facing structure, the setting is incredible. From the private balcony you can look straight down over the final two fences — arguably one of the best vantage points anywhere on the course.

Exceptional food, spectacular racing, and views of the closing moments of each race… the atmosphere was electric.

From historic Cotswold charm in Broadway, to steam-powered elegance and world-class hospitality at Cheltenham, this was one of those weekends that reminds you how special British sporting traditions really are.

🚂✨ All Aboard the At The Races Express – Cheltenham Festival 2026 ✨🏇

What a truly magical way to begin our day at the races!

After a wonderful breakfast, our morning started at the charming Toddington Heritage Steam Railway Station, where the atmosphere was simply electric. The platform was alive with the sound of a traditional Irish band, setting the perfect tone for a day steeped in racing heritage, celebration and a touch of nostalgia.

Soon it was time to step aboard the magnificent At The Races Express. Settling into our beautifully restored vintage carriage, we enjoyed first-class comfort as the steam locomotive gently pulled us away from the station and into the rolling countryside.

The journey itself was something rather special — a relaxed 35-minute ride through the breathtaking landscapes of the Cotswolds, the Malverns and the Vale of Evesham. Every guest had their own allocated seat and table inside the carriage, the perfect little setup for spreading out the Racing Post and making those all-important final race day selections.

This exclusive rail journey takes you directly to the rear of the main Grandstand at Cheltenham Racecourse, completely bypassing the race-day traffic. In many ways it feels like arriving at a Grand Prix by helicopter… only with far more vintage charm and steam-powered elegance.

As we steamed past long lines of cars waiting to enter the course, it really brought home just how special this experience is.

Arriving at Cheltenham Racecourse Station, just a furlong from the Paddock and opposite the North entrance, we stepped off relaxed, refreshed and ready for a spectacular day of racing.

A stylish, seamless and thoroughly memorable way to travel to the UK’s greatest National Hunt Festival.

A Cotswolds Escape 🍃🏇🥂

Today we drove up into the beautiful Cotswolds to begin a few days of racing, relaxation and incredible food.

Our first stop was an indulgent culinary treat. Dining at Grill by James Martin, where seasonal, local and artisanal ingredients take centre stage alongside some of James’ signature creations. Every dish celebrates the best produce the Cotswolds has to offer.

We also spent time in the wonderfully cosy Tavern by James Martin, enjoying small plates, local ales and a selection of seasonal delights in a relaxed setting.

Of course, no visit to the Cotswolds would be complete without a quintessentially English afternoon tea — delicate cakes, warm scones and plenty of tea, all enjoyed in the most charming surroundings.

Now we’re settled in and ready for a few days of Cheltenham Festival luxury and racing excitement.

A few days away, great food, great atmosphere and the thrill of the races…
Cheltenham – bring it on!
