NOTICE TO MARINERS No3 2026

Notice is hereby given that the following instructions are issued in light of Safety of navigation.

All vessels please be advised!

Berwick Amateur Rowing Club
are hosting crews from the region for "Sunday League" racing on Sunday 3rd May 2026
Possibly 12 crews to participate in the event.
The racing will take place between the Royal Border Bridge and The Royal Tweed Bridge, starting 12 and finishing approx 4pm.
A Safety launch will be in attendance on the river and there will only be 2crews racing at any one time.

All vessels are required to contact the safety launch on VHF ch12 before passing.

Flood alert no longer in force: Tweed estuary

The situation is improving and no further flooding is expected in this area.

Flood warnings and alerts may still be in force for surrounding areas.

There is no longer a threat of flooding, though standing water and debris may still remain.

Tidal conditions are expected to improve and no flooding is expected.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will issue further alerts or warnings if necessary.

Continue to take care on waterside roads and footpaths and don’t put yourself in unnecessary danger. Never drive through flood water, just 30cm of fast flowing water is enough to move your car.

What you should consider doing now

You should:

go to Check for flooding to see a map of the area and monitor up-to-date local flood information
follow the guidance in what to do after a flood
find out how to prepare for a future flood
Floodwater may remain for several days. There may be hidden dangers in the floodwater like:

sharp objects
raised manhole covers
sewage

High tides, strong winds and large waves today may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible from 4:45PM to 6:00PM on 05/02/2026.

Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers or on the coast, including between bridges.

We are closely monitoring the situation .

Avoid coastal roads and low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded .

This message will be updated by 9:00AM on 06 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
