Thank you all for the birthday messages and videos. we thought it would be a great idea to update you on our current situation.
About 7 weeks ago we were rock climbing in the Andes on the Argentine/Chilean border with our brother Joe and our friend Isaac. Richard had a bad fall and sprained his ankle. Following a spectacular rescue mission involving 2 miles of piggy back rides we made it back to camp.
We waited over night to see if there was any recovery on the ankle but, there wasn't. So we decided to head back to the nearest regional hospital. Although the injury to the ankle was not catastrophic the doctor set the ankle in a half cast.
We were aware of the corona virus but we felt geographically faraway from it and we weren't overly concerned.
However during our time back in phone signal and catching up with the world we soon realised the gravity of the COVID situation. We made the hard decision to call our travels short and return home.
It was easy for us to re-book flights but not so easy to find somewhere to store the Land Rover, so we reached out to the Land Rover Owners de Chile for help and advice. Out of many many offers to help we were incredibly lucky to meet Margarita Calderón Amaro from GoFest Chile.
She was so helpful in organising a secure place for us to store our Land Rover. Margarita then organised a friend, Max, to drive us to the airport and fill in the necessary paperwork to allow us to leave the country. We cant begin to tell you how helpful it is to have someone in your corner when the world is turning upside down.
She is our guardian Angel.
When we arrived in the UK 6 weeks ago, before the lockdown, we quarantined ourselves for 14 days and didn't display any symptoms. We are now back at the farm and trying to piece together some sort of coherent plan for the future, which we're sure most of you are doing right now.
We do have some photos and videos to upload in the near future.
Stay safe, lots of love.
