It's been a long couple of weeks, there's been a few late nights, plenty of issues along the way and it still needs a few niggles sorting but the taxi only had 10mins break between 10am and 5pm, did 20+ passenger rides and killed 30 pairs of tyres.

So overall a good day really considering it was it's first proper test

This is a diesel particulate filter from a Mercedes 220cdi blocked so much the exhaust gases were being forced back into the engine causing dangerously high oil pressure and forcing oil into the air intake and then it was running on its own oil and when a diesel car starts running on its own oil you usually can't stop them before it causes terminal damage to the engine. Unfortunately all modern diesel cars (2005 onwards) are fitted with one of these filters. The idea is to catch the soot that the engine produces and then burn it off on long motorway journeys. (usually the engine has to be doing 2500rpm for 15mins before the burning off process starts) we are finding that a lot of people are buying diesels for there fuel economy and then just using them around town meaning that the soot isn't being burnt off, the filter clogs up and then it starts causing very expensive issues. To replace the filter on this car is £325 and this has to be done before we can check that it hasn't done any other damage....
