**Important Update on The Bernwode Community Bus**

In 2017, Cllr Paul Irwin realised an opportunity to purchase the old Winslow community bus to help the older residents' clubs in Quainton and Waddesdon. Once the sale was finalised, Cllr Ashley Waite came on board to manage and grow the opportunity.

After seven years, we are now operating three vehicles that service the whole of North Bucks and offer great-value community transport. We also were integral during COVID-19 and beyond in establishing a network of foodbank collection points that continue to this day.

As well as running the “ Bernie “ charity Cllr Paul Irwin also leads “Inspire Bucks”, a charity that does a lot of work for children in the care system. Cllr Ashley Waite manages Bernie's operations and is a project lead for “I'd Like to Borrow” (a new tool lending library and bike renovation project).

Since Covid, it has become harder to find trustees and volunteers and the pressures of running the three charitable organisations have become challenging. For this reason, we have taken the not-so-light decision to close The Bernwode Community Bus Charity as of 31st December 2024.

The buses, all customers, and trips will transfer to I’d Like to Borrow as of 1st January 2025.

In the long run, little will change. It will be the same buses, the same drivers, and the same great service, but it will be under a new umbrella organisation, with a new name.

There will be no further posts on this page, so please follow the applicable pages below if you would like to use the services and hear the updates, this page will be likely to close in a year.
