🌒 Thinking ahead to the 2027 solar eclipse? 🚢

After seeing some of the amazing images taken from cruise ships during Wednesday’s solar eclipse, it really did look like being at sea offered some spectacular views.

🛳️ How important is the position of your cruise cabin?

When choosing a cruise, it can be tempting to focus mainly on the itinerary, ship and cabin type but the location of your cabin can make a real difference to your holiday.

For example, a cabin above, below or close to a nightclub or entertainment venue may not be ideal if you prefer an early night.

A cabin directly below the pool deck may look perfectly positioned but staff often begin cleaning the area and arranging sun loungers, tables and chairs early in the morning. That could mean hearing activity overhead before you planned to wake up!

Some cruise lines also offer a "Guarantee Cabin" where you choose the cabin category but the cruise line allocates the actual cabin number. It can sometimes reduce the cost, but you may have little or no control over where your cabin is situated.

For some people, the saving is worth the gamble. For others, choosing the exact cabin and knowing what is above, below and nearby provides valuable peace of mind.

This is one of the reasons why taking time to look carefully at the ship’s deck plans can be so important.
