Almost exactly three years ago we acquired Kinneddar Lodges, three self-catering holiday properties just north of Arisaig.
The lodges and grounds were in a pretty tired state however we saw the potential of what could be and began the refurbishment process immediately.
After rebranding as Reuben’s Highland Retreat, we stripped everything back and invested in hotel quality mattresses, new wool carpets, curtains, soft furnishings, furniture and moved our linen and towels over to be professionally laundered and maintained by MacKleeners of Fort William. Working with local suppliers, we then started on the fabric of the buildings to design and replace the bathrooms and kitchens as well as the plumbing and heating systems.
All three lodges are unrecognizable when compared to their former selves and as we open for the 2021 season we would like to thank the local trades and businesses who have helped up over the past three years. These include:
Chris Smail (Joiner), King Electrical Services, Duncan Muir & Son (Plumbers), Arisaig Garden & Landscaping, James MacDonald & Son (Decorators), Duncan Currie’s Tree Services and Lorne MacMillan.
A big thanks also to ‘Papa McDowall’ for his efforts and advice on all horticultural matters!
There is much more work we plan to do but the bigger projects must now wait until after the summer and into 2022 as we are very busy for the months ahead.
