I had a call last week from a manufacturer in Newbury.

They’d been promised ‘‘next day delivery’’ by one of the big parcel networks. Goods were collected Monday. Should have arrived Tuesday.

Actually arrived Thursday.

That’s two days of their customer waiting. Two days of calls asking, ‘Where is it?’ Two days of looking unprofessional … but through no fault of their own.

‘‘Next day’’ only works if it actually means next day.

We don’t just do next day, we can also do same day across Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Wiltshire. We do dedicated vehicles for regular runs. We do what we say we’re going to do.

It shouldn’t be complicated.

Call 01264 563088 when you need a courier who turns up when they say they will.

Plenty of businesses buy a van thinking it’ll solve their delivery problems.

And it does … for about three months.

Then you realise you’re paying insurance, tax, servicing and fuel for a van that sits in the yard three or four days a week. Plus someone has to drive it, look after it and deal with it if it breaks down.

We’re not saying don’t get your own van. For some businesses it makes complete sense.

But for a lot of people, paying for deliveries as and when you need them can work out far cheaper than owning a vehicle that’s idle half the time.

Definitely worth doing the sums 💰💰💰 before you commit.

Big parcel networks love advertising their ‘national coverage’.

What they don’t mention is that their idea of ‘coverage’ usually means your parcel goes to a hub 50 miles away, gets sorted with thousands of other parcels, then maybe comes back to an address 10 miles from where it started. ⬆️ ➡️ ⬇️ ⬅️

For a lot of Hampshire and Berkshire businesses, that doesn’t make much sense.

You’re in Reading.

Your customer’s in Basingstoke.

That’s about 15 miles.
But your parcel’s gone via a depot somewhere like Coventry first.

We do direct deliveries.

Your goods go from A to B.

No hubs. No sorting facilities. No unnecessary miles.

Sometimes keeping it simple really is the best option.

Ever wondered where your parcels actually go before they arrive?

You’d think this would be obvious, but apparently not.

Some loading bays can’t take high-roof vans. Some have time slots you can’t miss. Some are round the back, not the front. Some need tail-lifts.

Turn up with the wrong vehicle or at the wrong time and you’ve just wasted everyone’s morning.

We ask questions before we quote. What vehicle do you actually need? What are the access restrictions? What time windows matter?

A few minutes upfront can save hours of hassle later.

Where do deliveries tend to fall down for you?

Right, so we’ve been working on something new. 📣

We keep hearing the same story from retailers selling high-value items like premium bikes, e-bikes, musical instruments and expensive kitchen stuff.

Standard parcel networks just aren’t designed for that kind of thing. Conveyor belts and depot handling don’t mix well with a £2,000 e-bike or a high-end guitar.
So we’ve been developing a specialist service.

Proper securing. The right vehicles. Drivers who know that ‘fragile’ isn’t just a sticker.

More on this soon. But if you’re fed up with damaged deliveries and you selling bulky or valuable goods, it’s probably worth a conversation.

And yes … I’d genuinely like to hear some of your horror stories.

People sometimes ask me what makes a ‘good’ courier. For me, it’s not the fancy tracking systems or big claims.

It’s turning up when you said you would.

With the right vehicle.
.. and not causing problems at the other end.

That’s it, really. Everything else is noise.

Do you agree? What would be your definition of a good courier?

For a lot of manufacturers, February’s when things really start moving again after the Christmas slowdown. Projects that were delayed might all start to land at once.
Production ramps up. Delivery requirements increase.

If you’re heading into a busy period, it’s worth thinking about logistics now rather than scrambling later.

❓Are your regular routes already getting full?
❓Do you need some overflow capacity?
❓Or just a bit of backup for when things get hectic?

We’re already talking to businesses who’d rather plan than panic.

We keep hearing the same frustration from retailers of high-value goods.

Standard parcel networks can work brilliantly for robust items. But when you’re shipping premium bicycles or e-bikes, musical instruments or expensive kitchen appliances, the conveyor belt system isn’t designed for what you’re selling.

We’ve been developing a specialist service for businesses that need careful handling of valuable, bulky goods. We’re listening to what retailers truly need rather than forcing them into solutions designed for other products.

More on this soon. If you’re in this space and frustrated with current options, we’d genuinely value a conversation about what would work well for you.

Tell me some of your horror stories about something that did NOT get delivered properly!

Most manufacturers have regular delivery patterns. Weekly collections going out to your main distributor. Bi-weekly shipments to key customers. Predictable, scheduled logistics.

A one-vehicle solution doesn’t work when you need both scheduled reliability and urgent flexibility. You can’t maintain a full-time dedicated van just sitting idle for emergencies, but you also can’t tell important clients, “Sorry, we only deliver to you on Fridays.”

We work with manufacturing businesses who need that balance – regular scheduled routes when everything’s running normally, with the capability to add urgent same-day deliveries when situations change.

Your logistics partner should adapt to your day-to-day requirements rather than force you into rigid schedules that don’t match your business reality.

How do you balance regular scheduled deliveries with urgent customer requirements?
