Our railway is open today - I highly recommend you get here for around 11:30am to make the most out of your unlimited rides ticket!

We celebrated the Aln Valley Miniature Railway’s third birthday today and we’ve got some super exciting news.

We’re going to stay open Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday for the entire summer holidays! ☀️

Alnwick’s miniature railway is celebrating being open for 3 years! 🎉

To celebrate, we’ve asked miniature trains from all over the country to come and visit our railway on the 20th and 21st of July!

Even better, every miniature train ticket will include unlimited rides for the entire day - so little ones can go on as many times as they like!

We’d love for you to come along and visit us for our gala at Aln Valley Railway! 🚂

The end of the line for our portable railway

After an immensely rewarding journey operating our portable miniature railway, I'm sharing this heartfelt message alongside the amazing team that made it all possible.

Together, we brought joy to countless families and enthusiasts at events across the region. From steam fairs to unforgettable encounters with people who share our passion for miniature railways, the experiences and connections forged will forever be amazing memories.

However, due to increasing commitments, I've made the difficult decision to consolidate our efforts solely on Aln Valley Miniature Railway.

I'm at Newcastle University and operating a portable railway just doesn't fit into the long-term plan for us.

We are incredibly grateful for the tremendous support received over the years which fuelled our team's passion and commitment.

Some highlights:

- When we started, I was youngest person to own and operate a commercial portable railway in the UK.
- We were the only commercial portable railway in the North-East.
- We've collaborated with several other railways to provide some of the largest portable events completed in recent years.

Moving forward, with large investment and the hard work of our dedicated team, we are enhancing the Aln Valley Miniature Railway into a great value family-friendly day out.

This page will now be dedicated to special events at the Aln Valley Miniature Railway, and workshop updates.

Upgrades including a new engine shed, extended railway and new locomotives are actively underway to elevate the overall visitor experience. We can't wait to unveil these exciting developments when we proudly reopen for the 2024 season at Easter.

Thank you again to our wonderful supporters for the years of amazing memories with the portable railway.

I'm going to post some highlights on this page in the next few days from some of our favourite moments.
