Alderney Airport

Alderney Airport The official page for Alderney Airport. This is the official page for the States of Alderney Airport.

Alderney is the closest Channel Island to the South Coast of England and in 1936, had the first operational airport in the Channel Islands. Low landing fees, VAT-free Avgas and duty-free services make Alderney's airport a particularly attractive landing spot for private aviators. Alderney is unique amongst other Channel Island airports as it has three operational runways. The main runway, 08/26 is

880m long and is mainly asphalt. The two secondary runways are both grass, 14/32 being 733m long and 03/21 being 497m long. For more information on Alderney go to: www.visitalderney.com

✈️ Airport operations update

Following last night’s severe weather, Guernsey Airport reopened as planned this morning after only minor damage was reported on the airfield, with no impact to the terminal.

Our operational teams were on site before first light to carry out inspections of the aerodrome and clear windblown debris from the runway. After flights were suspended at 6pm yesterday, the terminal reopened to passengers at 7am and flight operations resumed from 8.30am, with Aurigny’s first inbound flight from Southampton landing shortly afterwards.

While Alderney Airport experienced more significant damage overnight, teams worked quickly to clear debris and safely reopen the airfield this morning.

A huge thank you to our staff in both Guernsey and Alderney, and to our airline partners, for their swift response and teamwork in helping minimise disruption and get passengers moving again safely today.

Every Christmas, thousands of journeys come together – by air, by sea, carrying loved ones, memories… and more than a few turkeys too.

Behind every arrival is a team working around the clock to bring people and Christmas essentials safely home to Guernsey.

Almost 6,000 passengers are expected to pass through Guernsey Airport today, Saturday and Sunday, and in total more than 21,000 between now and 2 January.

Nearly 6,500 passengers are also booked to travel to and from the island by boat over the same period. More than 3,600 tonnes of freight are also expected to arrive between now and Christmas Day – equivalent in weight to more than 300 double decker buses - as islanders stock up for the festivities.

From all of us at Guernsey Ports, thank you for travelling with us this year. We’re proud to play our part in bringing Christmas home to you.

Today we pause to remember.

Across land, air and sea, Guernsey Ports honours the courage and sacrifice of all those who served and continue to serve in times of conflict.

This Armistice Day, we join the island and the wider community in a moment of silence to reflect on the past and commit to peace for the future.

Lest we forget.

Flying this Christmas with gifts? Here’s what you need to know for a smooth transit through security at Guernsey and Alderney Airports:

🎁 Wrapped presents in hand luggage? Security might need to unwrap them, so it’s best to leave them unwrapped or pack them in your hold luggage instead.

🚫 Party poppers, sparklers, and toy guns (even ones that look fake) are not allowed in any luggage - hand or hold.

💧 Remember the 100ml liquid rule! Gift sets with containers over 100ml will need to go in the hold.

Plan ahead and pack smart!

Wishing you all a safe and festive journey this holiday season. 🎄🎁 🎅
