A 4-hour emergency callout. A failed kitchen extract fan. And a system that needed more than just a quick repair.

Prois Air attended The Granary in Elgin for Greene King after a reported kitchen extract fan breakdown.

Once on site, the team identified two further compliance issues — an acoustic attenuator within the system and a fan that wasn’t suitable for kitchen extract.

Rather than simply replacing the failed fan, the system was redesigned to suit the site requirements, the affected sections were removed and replaced with new ductwork, and a suitable high-temperature kitchen extract fan was sourced and installed.

Access added another challenge. With no straightforward route to roof level, an external crane company was brought in alongside Elgin City Council traffic management to safely manage the road closure and lift the required plant and materials into position.

A difficult job, but nothing out of reach.

The system was brought back online and the affected sections brought back in line with the required standard.
