Feis Ìle 2026 – Part Two
We kicked off the second half of this year’s Feis Ìle on a hot Wednesday morning with a masterclass at Ardnahoe Distillery. The combination of a fantastic atmosphere, cask samples of yet-to-be-bottled whiskies, and live music from Skerryvore made for a perfect start to the next stage of the festival.
The rest of the day was spent at the ever-welcoming Bowmore Distillery. We were greeted with a tasting of a 25-year-old Bowmore and a 21-year-old release from the Aston Martin series. The experience continued with rare archive bottlings, cask tastings in the legendary No. 1 Vaults, and excellent live music throughout the day.
Thursday took us to Kilchoman Distillery, where we joined a masterclass with the founder, toured the distillery, and even bottled a special edition whisky ourselves. We also enjoyed a tasting hosted by Emma, the brand ambassador well known to whisky fans around the world.
Later, we attended a Port Askaig tasting and had the chance to chat with Islay legend Jackie Thomson. The day ended at Ardbeg’s famous festival barbecue, a gathering that once again brought together great whisky, food, music, and whisky enthusiasts from around the world.
Friday traditionally belonged to Bunnahabhain. We started with an outstanding warehouse tasting led by David Brodie, one of the most respected figures on Islay. The highlight was a remarkable 34-year-old whisky matured in a PX sherry cask, a dram that left everyone momentarily speechless. We then crossed the Sound of Islay to Jura Distillery, where a distillery tour, local drams, and cocktails quickly made us forget the windy weather.
Our final festival stop was Ardbeg Day on Saturday. Despite heavy rain, spirits remained high. There was the famous cabinet filled with liquid treasures, excellent cheeses, a cinema set up in the old maltings, great live music, and plenty of rare and archival Ardbeg releases to sample.
We rounded off the day at Ardbeg House, celebrating the birthday of one of our fellow travellers, Michał.
It was a wonderful festival and we’ll never forget it.
