Twenty ships. That’s not a cruise line, that’s a whole menu.

Norwegian Cruise Line is one of those brands where “Which NCL?” is the real question, because each ship has its own feel. That’s what I like about it. You can go laid-back and do Freestyle Cruising properly — eat when you want, not when a timetable tells you. Or you can dial things up with options like The Haven if you want that tucked-away, treat-yourself vibe.

You know that trip you’ve been talking about for years. “This is the year we’ll do the Christmas markets.” And then December lands, everyone’s busy, and it slips again.

If you want to actually do it, a river cruise is one of the easiest ways to see the best markets in one hit. You unpack once, your hotel moves with you, and you’re not trying to stitch together trains, taxis, check-ins and three different hotels. You step off the ship and you’re in the heart of it.

The one I keep coming back to (and the one I’ve highlighted in this carousel) is a Danube Christmas markets itinerary that takes in Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest. Those three cities feel properly different, even though they’re close together. Vienna is classic and elegant, Bratislava is smaller and easy to wander, and Budapest in the evening has that “stay out a bit longer” feel. I also like this route because you’re not wasting days travelling between places — the sailing is part of the rhythm.

If you’re already eyeing up October and thinking, “I need a bit of sun”, you’re not alone. It’s one of my favourite months to travel, but the best choice changes a lot depending on when you’re going.

Early October? I’m a big fan of Chania, Crete if you want that sweet spot of warm days, lovely evenings, and a good mix of beach time with proper exploring. It suits couples who like to wander old towns, eat well, then switch off by the sea.

If you’re tied to October half term, I often lean more towards somewhere like Sharm El Sheikh. The heat is far more reliable later in the month, and it’s ideal if your priority is sun, pool time, and a straightforward, easy week away.

This is the bit I’m picky about as your Travel Consultant. I’ll recommend based on your dates, who you’re travelling with, the weather you’re hoping for, and whether you want to relax, explore, or blend both. I don’t give everyone the same answer.

If you’ve been meaning to book a holiday but life’s got in the way, this is one of those “right time to sort it” moments I keep an eye out for.

Jet2holidays have a Zero Deposit campaign running from 27 August to 2 September 2026. That means you can get your trip planned and booked without paying the usual deposit upfront, as long as you book by 2 September 2026.

It applies to holidays travelling between 15 January 2027 and 31 March 2028, so it’s ideal if you’re already thinking ahead to winter sun, a spring break, or even next year’s main holiday, but you haven’t pinned anything down yet.

You know when you see an offer and think, “That one’s actually worth paying attention to”? This is one of those.

Because I keep a close eye on TUI’s promotions (it’s part of my job as your Personal Travel Consultant), I can usually tell when something is a nice headline… and when it’s a proper chance to get a great trip locked in early without tying up cash.

Right now, TUI has a £0 deposit offer on eligible holidays. That means you can secure your dates and hotel with no deposit upfront, which is ideal if you’ve been talking about 2027 or even 2028 but haven’t wanted to commit money yet.

The important bit (dates):

You need to book between 20–26 August 2026, for eligible departures between 1 April 2027 and 30 April 2028.

I’m sharing this now because the people who win with offers like this are the ones who plan ahead. If you’ve got a “next big holiday” in mind for 2027/2028, this is a smart window to look properly and get something nailed down.

I book Disney holidays every week, and I’m always surprised how many people choose tickets last… when the right ticket can change both the day-to-day experience and what the whole trip costs.

Disney has a few ticket types, but Disney Magic Tickets are the one I keep coming back to for most UK families because they bundle in so much. When you understand what’s included (and what you’ll actually use), you stop paying for “extras” twice, you plan your park days with confidence, and you avoid that horrible feeling of “did we do this the smart way?”

My honest take: Disney is amazing, but it’s not the place to wing it. A little planning upfront makes the holiday feel effortless when you’re there. That’s the goal.

Just got back from your summer holiday and already have the holiday blues? Here’s a good reason to get next year’s trip pencilled in.

easyJet holidays have a Zero Deposit Offer on right now, so you can secure an eligible 2027 holiday without paying a deposit at the time of booking. It’s a handy option if you want to lock in dates and a hotel you love, but keep things a bit more flexible with your cash.

A couple of other reasons I’m mentioning it now: more airline seats have dropped for Summer 2027, so you’ve got more choice on popular routes and more flexibility on dates. And there are still millions of FREE kids places available, with even more expected to come through for Summer 2027.

There are also savings on selected trips already built into the price, including up to £700 off 1,000s of holidays.

Four days off can feel like nothing… or it can feel like you’ve properly been away. The difference is usually one thing: picking the right place when time is tight.

When you’ve only got a long weekend, you don’t want half of it eaten up by airports, late arrivals, awkward transfers, or a hotel that’s miles from the bit you actually came for. I’ve done those “quick” breaks that weren’t quick at all, and you come home more tired than when you left. Lesson learnt.

That’s why I’m fussy about the details on short trips. What time the flights actually land. How long the transfer really takes. Whether you’re the “drop bags and explore” type or you’d rather slow down with great food, a view, and a decent lie-in. And what you want the break to feel like, busy, restful, romantic, outdoorsy, a bit of everything.
