It was a valuable opportunity to discuss the current activities of FCO Offshore / SAFER Training, gain further insight into developments across the region, and explore the potential for additional OPITO approvals as we continue to expand our offering in Brazil.

Collaboration and engagement across industry remain essential to supporting growth, maintaining high standards, and creating opportunities for the future.

Supporting both new entrants and experienced riggers through training and assessment

We are pleased to announce that SAFER Training has recently supported KRTS LTD (Training Center) in Atyrau, Kazakhstan in achieving OPITO approval for Safe Driving at Work Training and Competence Assessment.

This approval represents another successful collaboration, ensuring that training delivered in the region meets the high standards required by the global energy industry.

SAFER Training worked closely with both OPITO and the KRTS LTD (Training Center) team throughout the approval process, providing consultancy, guidance, and technical support to help achieve full compliance with OPITO approval requirements.

It was great to spend time in Atyrau working alongside the team, and we look forward to continuing our support with KRTS with further approvals.

Across Qatar's offshore sector, leading energy operators and drilling contractors, such as QatarEnergy, QatarEnergy LNG, and Gulf Drilling International (GDI), are not just talking about safety, competence, and standards; they're actively investing in them. These organizations are enhancing the readiness and confidence of their personnel in critical safety functions by utilizing SAFER Training’s Virtual Marine cutting-edge Lifeboat Coxswain simulator.

No longer must trainees launch lifeboats into the water, thanks to regulator-approved simulation technology; coxswains now train in a risk-free, fully immersive environment.

The simulator replicates the most important tasks a coxswain may face: launching and maneuvering a survival craft to safety during an emergency.

Unlike conventional lifeboat training, which often limits launch practice to a single attempt, our simulator allows every trainee to execute at least five full launch sequences. 🎓 Certification Pathways

All trainees are assessed to OPITO standards. Those who meet OPITO prerequisites receive the OPITO Lifeboat Coxswain Certificate. Others may be awarded the Advanced Coxswain Training (ACT) certificate, supporting compliance with:

STCW Code A-VI/2, para 5
ISM Code 8.2 (2010 Edition)
