In our third Community Transport Week video, Dyzer shares how he uses THInC in the City—operated by Buchan Dial-A-Community Bus —to travel to the MS Centre for oxygen therapy.

Yesterday, we brought partners together at Pittodrie for the Nestrans’ People and Place 2026/27 Showcase Event.

The day featured updates from Transport Scotland and programme partners, including THinC in the City from Buchan Dial-A-Community Bus. We also took a short walk down to the wonderful Aberdeen Cycle Hub at Seaton, to see inclusive cycling in action.

The Sport Aberdeen hub plays host to three of our funded projects including Grampian Inclusive Cycling Bothies, Connecting Communities Aberdeen from Cycling UK in Aberdeen City, and Rock Up and Ride Aberdeen from Scottish Cycling in partnership with Sport Aberdeen. The space is also shared by Walk Wheel Cycle Trust making it a fantastic space for all things walking, cycling and wheeling.

We rounded off the event with lively discussions on sustainability, efficiency and strengthening partnerships as we look ahead to the next year of delivery. Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their ideas.

Earlier this week our People and Place Officer attended this wonderful showcase from Cycling UK in Aberdeen City, to hear first hand about the impact of their Connecting Communities Programme in Aberdeen. The project works to help make it easier for people to cycle, looking at barriers to cycling including cost, confidence, health, accessing a suitable bike or finding the right information on routes.

We are very pleased to be able to fund the programme though our People and Place Programme, which is funded by Transport Scotland.

📣𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧: A consultation for proposed improvements at the Toll of Birness junction will close later this week.

In partnership with Aberdeenshire Council, we are inviting residents, businesses and road users to have their say on the proposals to improve safety at the busy junction on the A90 north of Ellon.

The consultation focuses on preliminary design options for a potential roundabout at the A90/A952 junction, with the aim of improving safety, junction operation and traffic flow for the thousands of motorists who use this key route every day.

The project is the result of several years of collaborative work involving Aberdeenshire Council, Nestrans and Transport Scotland to identify a long-term solution for one of the north-east's most important transport links.

🚲 Thinking about cycling with your little one, but not sure where to start?

Come along to our free family event in Kellands Park, Inverurie, where you can discover a range of options for cycling with young children.

Chat with local cycle confidence champions who have real experience of cycling with babies, toddlers and young children. Test out an e-bike and see the difference it could make to your everyday journeys.

We'll have advice on affordable cycling options, plus a bike doctor on hand to help if your bike isn't running quite as it should.

For the children, there will be balance bikes, pedal bikes and a fun skills track to try. And for the grown-ups? A coffee van will be there too!

We are delighted to be able to support the wonderful work that Stella's Voice deliver through their Recycled Bikes for All project, as part of our People and Place Programme funded by Transport Scotland.

🚲Stella's Voice and Karen Adam MSP Launch ‘Bikes for Christmas’ for a Third Year

🎁Hundreds of children in the North East are set to receive upcycled bikes in time for Christmas, following this year’s launch of the Bikes for Christmas campaign.

🙌🏻Now in it’s third year, the project led by Karen Adam MSP and Stella’s Voice, supported by Nestrans and funded by Transport Scotland, will benefit children from nursery level to primary 3 across Aberdeenshire and Moray.

🗣Karen Adam MSP and Mark Morgan of Stella’s Voice began the scheme to tackle child poverty by removing some of the financial barriers faced by families, and ensure inclusion and independence for every child receiving a bike.
