It’s Earth Day, and Shurgard is taking steps toward a more sustainable future.

We are reducing our impact by improving energy efficiency, expanding solar power across our buildings, and working toward net zero emissions by 2030 for our operations and 2040 across our full value chain.

As cities grow and space becomes more limited, self-storage helps people make better use of space and avoid unnecessary construction. Earth Day is a reminder that consistent action leads to real impact.

Our second Shurgard location is officially open in Eastbourne! This new facility on Lottbridge Drove joins our Hawthorne Road store to provide even more storage space for the local community. With over 800 brand-new units, there is plenty of room for household moves or business stock.

The store team is on-site and ready to help find the right fit. Anyone in the Sussex area is welcome to stop by, meet the staff, and take a look around.

Last Sunday, we returned to Bois de la Cambre for the 2nd edition of Run Together. The goal of the event was to run side by side with children with motor disabilities, using adapted equipment that allows them to participate just like anyone else.

By joining the run and supporting our charity partner Run&Wheels, we helped promote a meaningful cause while sharing a sunny Sunday morning filled with energy and smiles.

Last week, our Scandinavian teams traded their storage location for the bike saddle to participate in Spin of Hope 2026.

As a company, we were proud to support our charity partner, Team Rynkeby, in their mission to advance childhood cancer research and provide essential support to children and families affected by the disease.

It’s Global Recycling Day, and we wanted to share a quick update on how we are handling waste at Shurgard. We’re really proud to say that none of our operational waste goes to landfill. Instead, we’re hitting a recycling rate of over 40% and counting.

We know there’s always more to do, but we’re working on it every day. Join us in making sustainable choices!

Together with our charity partner Run&Wheels, our Belgian team proudly took part in Run Together last Sunday at Bois de la Cambre. It’s a warm and inclusive event to make running accessible for people with physical disabilities through adapted equipment.

Alongside joining the run, we also managed a small stand, offered water to participants, and most importantly cheered on the young runners to keep their motivation high.

Run&Wheels’ mission to make sports accessible perfectly aligns with our role as Shurgard ambassadors, and we are proud to support initiatives like this.

Today is World Cancer Day. At Shurgard, we are marking the occasion by highlighting our partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to providing specialised care and support for young people with cancer.

We work closely with the Trust through various fundraising events and volunteering opportunities for our employees.

We officially opened the doors to our brand-new Shurgard facility in Frankfurt Rödelheim yesterday! With over 1,100 units spread across four floors, we have plenty of space to serve local residents or nearby businesses.

We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our brand-new self-storage facility in Neuss (Düsseldorf) on August 27! The modern site features around 800 storage units across several floors, including many convenient direct access outdoor units.

As Düsseldorf is one of Germany’s Big Seven cities, this opening marks another important step in our strategy to grow in key metropolitan areas.

We’re proud to share that we have been selected as finalists in two categories at the FEDESSA Awards – the most prestigious recognition platform in the self-storage industry. This double nomination highlights how we continue to go above and beyond industry standards:
