🌿 Discover La Orquídea y el Oso

A community-driven project bringing together more than 300 families in Cauca, working collectively to build long-term stability, ensure quality, and strengthen connections at origin.

Rooted in people and place, this initiative highlights coffees shaped by both a unique volcanic terroir and the commitment of the communities behind them.

☕ Among them, Yaquiva, a coffee that reflects both its origin and the people behind it.

📢 Last February, we launched the first Q Grading training at Belco.

A visual summary of the training led by Denis Mialocq () to prepare for and pass the Q-Grader certification.

6 days, 9 demanding tests, from green coffee evaluation to cupping and descriptive analysis. Participants worked through the core protocols of coffee quality, developing sensory precision and calibration.

A hands-on immersion into the standards and shared language of specialty coffee.

From Mexico to Guatemala: on the ground with our sourcing team 🌱

Over the past two weeks, Jean (Global Sourcing) and Javier (Central America Buyer) have been traveling across Central America at the end of the harvest.
This trip aims to visit our partners, meet new ones, and select coffees directly at origin.

📍In Mexico (Chiapas & Veracruz), they spent time with producers and cooperatives, working on organic coffee projects and discovering new coffees.
📍In Guatemala, they visited long-term partners and cupped some outstanding micro-lots at the peak of the harvest.

Jean and Javier’s journey continues, as they keep traveling across Central America to select the next coffees at origin. 💚

At Belco, we believe great coffee is built on strong partnerships. 💚

In Aratoca, Colombia, Pilos del Café is an educational parcel created by Belco and producer Oscar Daza, located next to the local public school. Here, pupils help taking care of the coffee trees and they take part in the harvest, discovering firsthand how coffee is grown. 🌱

Since 2024, Origines Tea & Coffee contributes to this project by bringing the full production of the parcel to market.

Part of the value generated around this coffee is reinvested in the school, helping fund educational activities, equipment and the maintenance of the coffee plot.

It’s official! The Belco Impact Score® is available!
You may have already noticed it, appearing in some of our coffee pages…

Developed by Belco in 2025, the Impact Score® is a tool designed to assess and highlight the sustainability of coffee farms and upstream actors in the supply chain, based on three key dimensions: environmental, social, and economic. 🌱

Its goal? To offer a clearer and more nuanced understanding of sustainability, beyond a simple “sustainable or not” label.
