Stage 17 of next year's Tour de France passes our front door on the way to the Col d'Aspin, Hourquette, Azet to finish on the runaway at Peyragudes. Come and ride many of the famous Tour de France cols directly from the house and experience what it is like to ride grand tour climbs.

to one of our recent summer groups from Dynamic Rides. They certainly started their week off with a bang by taking on the mighty Lac de cap de long, Hourquette d'Ancizan, and Col d’Aspin… all in one ride!

Yesterday we cheered the pros up the Col d'Azet before they took on the punishing Portet! Amazing atmosphere and so much action on the road.

Those of you with Di2 do any of you use shift mode 2?

I have recently set up shift mode 2 to keep the gear ratio changes sequential and I have to say it's a real game changer for me. Front mech changes automatically to keep the ratios smooth and no "cross chaining".

The ability to change modes via my Garmin 830 and have a warning when the next change includes the front mech very impressed.

How is yours set up?

Introducing.... climbs from our doorstep! 🏔🚵🏻‍♀️🚵

At Velo Le Closier, we pride ourself on many things, one of which is our fantastic location. In our new series, we’re highlighting the climbs that you can conquer on your bike... you guessed it, from our doorstep!

Kicking us off is the Horquette d’Ancizan. Riding from Ancizan, you start the 10.2km climb with gradients of over 9% for the first few km’s. After that, it eases up slightly to 7-8% near the summit. Take in the stunning views across the valley and then get ready for an thrilling decent through camp sites and beautiful nature to Payolle. From there you can round up a solid day of riding by riding over the Col d’Aspin, then follow the valley back to Le Closier.

Today’s ride took in the Peyresourde & Port de Bales! Le Tour de France will be taking in both of these climbs from the other side in September, so we thought we’d send our guest out to recon them! 🚵

I hope that you are all keeping safe and those of you who are allowed to get out on your bikes are taking the opportunity to do so. Cycling has been banned under the confinement rules here in France and we are expecting the confinement to be extended again on Monday. I have been looking through more pictures of you all and looking forward to better times. Until then stay safe....
