✨👨🍳 Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons: where history, gardens and gastronomy meet.
Set in the Oxfordshire village of Great Milton, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel, Oxfordshire has a story that stretches back centuries. The estate can be traced to 1225, with the house and grounds evolving over generations to include orchards, fishponds and a dovecote.
In 1984, French chef Raymond Blanc OBE transformed the historic manor into the country-house restaurant and hotel he had envisioned — a place where an English country setting could meet a distinctly French culinary spirit. The name Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons translates as “The House of the Four Seasons.”
From the very beginning, the garden was central to Blanc’s philosophy. Today, the estate is home to 11 gardens, including organic kitchen gardens, a Japanese garden and an extraordinary heritage orchard of around 2,500 trees. Seasonality, foraging, provenance and thoughtful use of ingredients remain at the heart of its garden-to-table approach.
And then there are the stars. ⭐️⭐️
Le Manoir received two Michelin stars in its opening year, 1984, and remarkably retained them continuously for more than four decades. It has also received a Michelin Green Star in recognition of its sustainability practices.
Beyond the restaurant, the estate has become a destination for culinary and horticultural discovery, with the Raymond Blanc Cookery School and Gardening School sharing the knowledge and philosophy that have defined Le Manoir for generations.
More than a country house, Le Manoir is a living expression of the seasons — where the history of the land finds its way onto the plate. 🌿🍎🌸
