RACE ACROSS LANZAROTE | THE FOLDING BIKE CHALLENGE 2019
Mick McLoughlin wins in record time of 3:37.13 hours.
It all started with a lost bet. Peter (owner of Lanzarote Cycling) was so sure that Patrick Lange became 'Ironman World Champion' for the third time in a row, his buddy Mick (Bueno Bike Lanzarote) bet on Jan Frodeno.
Stake: The loser rides once across Lanzarote from Playa Blanca (lighthouse Faro Pechiguera) to Orzola to the lighthouse.
Patrick quit Hawaii early, so Peter had to get on the folding bike. However, who knows Mick 'the Stylish Irish' McLoughlin, who knows such a 'challenge' he doesn't want to miss,... so both went to the start of the first 'Race Across Lanzarote'.
To be honest, against Mick, the extreme and endurance athlete and Race Across Germany winner, Peter didn't have had a chance.
Mick won the premiere of the folding bike race in an incredible 3:37:13 hours and set the first official track record in this discipline on Lanzarote.
Peter, on the other hand, saved his power and put everything into the 'sprint classification' at the Jameos del Agua, ... a tactic that worked, because he won this special competition.
After crossing the finish line in Orzola both drove together to the award ceremony and the After Race Party (as part of the MONTEFUEGO CIRCLE LANZAROTE) in the 'Cantina de Mala'.
As organizers of this extraordinary race, we congratulate the two athletes and thank all those who helped to realize it. We are already looking forward to the upcoming RACE ACROSS LANZAROTE 2020.
