While Length Overall (LOA) tells you how much dock space you’ll need, Load Line Length is the technical measurement that actually dictates which regulations apply to your vessel.

For anyone looking at commercial coding in the UK or Europe, that 24-metre threshold is the big one. If your Load Line Length is under 24m, you fall under the Small Commercial Vessel Code. Step over that mark, and you’re looking at the much more stringent Large Yacht Code.
