The other day, while outside the office, someone passed by and we got chatting—and he genuinely thought that we made paper boats! It’s not the first time we’ve had this or been asked.
“So… do we actually make and sell paper boats?”
No, we don’t fold and sell paper boats. But what we do is something far more valuable—especially if you’re a yacht owner, captain and/or management company navigating through Spain’s ever-evolving sea of customs regulations.
And since Google and AI seem to do a better job than our signage sometimes, we thought it was time to clear things up (with a smile).
So What Does Custom Paper Boats Actually Do?
If you Google "custom paper boats" (as I just did!), the AI's results that now appear off to the side are surprisingly on point:
“The search results primarily focus on companies providing services related to maritime operations, logistics, and passenger transport, including yacht services, ship maintenance, and customs assistance. The term 'paper boats' appears metaphorically to refer to tailored services... designed to handle complex regulations and logistics.”
Exactly. We specialize in paperwork—but not the boring kind. Think of us as navigators of bureaucracy and red tape—our “paperwork” is just as critical as any hull, engine, or mooring line.
So… Why the Name?
“Custom Paper Boats” was chosen somewhat deliberately—and metaphorically. In Spain, when registering a company, you have to submit your top five name options and wait to see which one is approved. We played with a few variations on the “paper boats” theme, and it was our third choice that made the cut. (I'll let you guess the top two—and if you're truly curious, the bottom two while you're at it!)
How are ‘paper boats’ used metaphorically in this context?
In our world, the term ‘paper boats’ represents:
📝 Custom-designed services Just as each paper boat is hand-folded, we tailor our services to the unique needs of every yacht or operation.
⚓ Delicate yet capable handling Navigating complex regulations requires finesse—especially when dealing with customs, port authorities, and maritime rules that can shift overnight.
🌊 Streamlined simplicity Even when the process is complex, the result feels smooth and manageable—like a small (not paper) boat gliding across still water.
It’s about gracefully maneuvering the fragile and the often frustrating—and making sure no detail is left to drift.
What We Actually Do (In Plain English)
Based in Palma de Mallorca, we support yachts and superyachts operating in Spanish waters by:
· Organizing berths, port clearances, and vessel formalities upon entry & exit
· Handling temporary admissions (TA), inward processing procedures (RPA) and customs documentation
· Providing compliance documentation, crew clearances, provisioning and liaison with Spanish suppliers when the language becomes a barrier
· Offering full logistical support in Palma, and major ports across Spain in collaboration with our OEA licensed agent, Agencia Marítima Blázquez, based in Cartagena.
We handle the paperwork and pressure, so our clients can focus on meeting their deadlines.
Still Curious?
If you’re in Palma de Mallorca, feel free to swing by and say hello. We’ll talk yachts, logistics—and yes, maybe even origami. We love a chat, and we can explain the metaphor over a coffee, and maybe even show you the real paper boat I made in pretty paper—Just For Fun! Just don’t expect us to sell you a paper boat (unless it’s metaphorical).
