Stop 1: Mercado de Atarazanas

One of our favourite stops on the bike tour: the spectacular Mercado Central de Atarazanas!

Did you know?

This vibrant market stands on the exact spot where a 14th-century Nasrid shipyard (Atarazanas) once built and repaired ships for the Moorish kingdom. Back then, the sea reached right up to here!

You can still see the original monumental Arabic gate preserved on the main façade. The rest of the beautiful iron structure was built in the 19th century, and the stunning stained-glass window at the back tells the story of Málaga.

Fresh seafood, colourful fruit & veg, local tapas, and that incredible market energy — it’s the perfect place to feel the real soul of the city.

1) Wear light, breathable clothes — T-shirt, shorts or comfortable pants. Avoid heavy fabrics.

2) Good shoes are key — Trainers or sneakers with grip (you’ll be getting on and off the bike for photos!).

3) Sunscreen is a must — Even on cloudy days, the spring sun in Málaga is strong. Don’t forget hat or sunglasses too!

4) Bring a small backpack — With water, phone, and a light layer in case the wind picks up by the sea.
