Low season in Tenerife means it's time for a little refresh at Apartamento El Gato. 🐱☀️

We've been busy with some renovations, adding a few fresh touches, taking new photos, and getting everything ready for our next guests.

Of course, every improvement needs proper testing... so I've been doing my duty from the sofá with a cold beer and Netflix. 🍺📺😎

The apartment is looking better than ever, and we can't wait to welcome you back soon!

Tegueste – Los Dornajos Trail 🌿⛰️

A beautiful circular hike starting in the charming village of Tegueste, where the day begins with friendly "Buenos días" from two local dogs 🐶🐶.
We follow a clockwise loop with opening views towards Teide, Tejina and Bajamar. The trail climbs steeply at first towards Mesa de Tejina, then continues through a cool, cloudy laurel forest (laurisilva). Once out of the forest, the landscape opens up to clear blue skies and warm sunshine, before the final descent back into Tegueste, where Teide appears once again in the distance.

🌵LAS VEGAS circular TRAIL in the area of Granadilla de Abona.🌵🥾

This relaxed walk with only a gentle ascent takes you through a landscape rich in history and open views. The trail passes through an area once inhabited by the Guanche people, the original inhabitants of Tenerife. 🛖
Along the way, you can spot remains of old mills, houses carved into the rocks, and a traditional water channel system that once sustained local life.💦

As you continue, the scenery opens up with beautiful views towards Mount Guajara, and further on, sweeping vistas down towards the coast of Granadilla. A peaceful hike that combines nature, history, and wide volcanic landscapes.🌋

This year has been extra special as we added some new touches to the apartment, including a brand-new bed in the bedroom, bigger smart TV and new terrace doors to make your stay even more comfortable and enjoyable. 🌴

Your visits, smiles, recommendations and kind words made this year truly special for us. It was a pleasure welcoming you to our little corner of Tenerife and sharing the island’s sunshine, ocean breeze, and relaxed atmosphere with you. 🌴☀️

🌋 Evening Adventure on Mount Teide — Chasing the Sunset Above the Clouds 🌅

Just hiked one of the most magical routes in Tenerife — from Montaña Blanca all the way to La Rambleta and finally the summit of Pico del Teide (after hours, when the crowds are gone and the silence is unreal). 🌄

Started in daylight with surreal volcanic landscapes, passed through the Altavista refuge zone (currently under renovation, reopening in November 2025), and reached the top just in time for the sunset show. Watching the sun dip below a sea of clouds from the highest point in Spain — at 3,718m — is something unforgettable. And then… the famous Teide shadow cast across the sky. Absolutely worth every step. 🏞️✨

🔦 A headlamp or flashlight is a must if returning after dark.
