This is your sign to visit the Saltee Islands before the puffins leave for the year. Take a boat to a tiny island off the Wexford coast to watch puffins do their thing 🐧🌊
The Saltee Islands are one of those places that feels like it shouldn’t be real — thousands of seabirds, and puffins waddling around like they own the place (they kind of do). No cars, no shops, just wind, wings, and the occasional very unbothered puffin staring you down.
The Saltee Ferry must be booked (in advance as long as possible, as it gets very busy), and costs €40 per adult per return. The ferry takes 20 minutes and you need to prepare for a wet landing as there is no operational pier on the Saltee Islands.
The Saltee Island Ferry is operated by the Three Sisters Cruise Company and departs from Kilmore Quay.
If you’re ever in Wexford between April and July, this is the detour to make. 🧡
