New York City delivered.
Our Squash Retreat around the Tournament of Champions brought players together from Nigeria, England, Sweden, United States, the Netherlands, and Canada, hosted by former World Champion Peter Nicol at his club in Manhattan.
A snowstorm kept a few players away, but the week on and off court was something special.
NYC 2027… let’s do it again. 🗽

A snapshot from last April’s El Gouna International Squash Retreat — days on court, conversations off court, and time spent with people who truly live the game.

In the photo: Squash Retreats founder Meindert Kooistra, with Gregory Gaultier, 2015 World Champion, who led the retreat on and off the court. We were also joined by three-time World Champion Nick Matthew for an in-depth Q&A alongside Malaysian squash star Siva Subramaniam, and Aly Abou Eleinen (top-15 PSA) jumped on court with the group one morning.

Former Tournament of Champions champion and former World No. 2 Camille Serme during the 2025 Tournament of Champions Retreat in New York City.

She led the retreat last January at the very event she once won — and in four weeks, we return to the same place with a different squash legend (or legends) leading the experience.

Ali Farag retires today as a four-time World Champion and one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Just last month in El Gouna, we had the privilege of a private Q&A with him. We asked about retirement—not knowing today would be the day he’d make it official.

What a champion. But more importantly, what a human being. Thoughtful, humble, and a true ambassador for the sport.
