Don't go straight to Tutankhamun at the Grand Egyptian Museum👑
Everyone does. It's understandable — the complete tomb collection, all 5,000-plus pieces, is displayed together for the first time since Howard Carter opened the tomb in 1922. The gold mask is the most famous object on earth.
But here's what happens. You arrive fresh, spend two hours in those galleries, and then walk the rest of the museum on empty legs with a phone full of gold and nothing left in you.
Do the Grand Staircase first. Six storeys of statues, arranged so you climb through Egyptian history, and at the top the whole wall is glass with the Pyramids of Giza framed inside it — because the building is aligned to them on purpose. Then the main galleries. Then Tutankhamun, with some context in your head.
And give it half a day minimum. People consistently under-plan the GEM and come out frustrated.
