(مراكب الشمس) في عام 1954 عند قاعدة الهرم الأكبر بالجيزة بمصر، اكتشف عالم الآثار المصري كمال الملاخ حفرتين مسقوفتين عند قاعدة هرم خوفو الجنوبية. عُثر في قاع إحداهما على سفينة مفككة متقنة النحت من خشب الأرز، كان عدد أجزاء المركب 1224 قطعة، لا ينقص منها أي جزء. من ضمنها خمسة أزواج من المجاديف واثنين من زعانف التوجيه ومقصورة.
عثر في محيط الهرم الأكبر 7 حفرات تحوي بعضها مراكب . خمسة منها تتبع هرم خوفو واثنان يتبعان أهرام الملكات . وقد وجدت حفرتي مراكب الشمس جنوب هرم خوفو في حالة جيدة ومغلقة.
(Boats of the Sun) In 1954, at the base of the Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt, Egyptian archaeologist Kamal Al-Malakh discovered two roofed pits at the southern base of the Pyramid of Khufu. At the bottom of one of them, a dismantled ship was found, beautifully carved from cedar wood. The number of parts of the ship was 1,224 pieces, with no part missing. Including five pairs of oars, two steering fins and a cabin.
In the vicinity of the Great Pyramid, 7 pits were found, some of which contained boats. Five of them follow the pyramid of Khufu and two follow the pyramids of the queens. The two sun boat pits south of the Pyramid of Khufu were found in good condition and closed.
